Sarees,
munds, food served on banana leaves, colorful installations and happy, happy people. Onam
is here.
The colourful festival that marks the homecoming of the mythical King mahabali who is considered as the King, Onam is also
associated with crops,
hence marking itself as the
harvest festival. As a friend once told me,'it rains inconsistently during
the days
surrounding Onam. Drizzles, as well as heavy downpour.'
Besides
traditional elements such as sadya, pookalam and
music and dances, there
is another perk that Onam brings with itself- dressing up.Needless to
say ,we indulged in it!
There were sarees- the traditional kasavu ones, known rather so famously, as well as some unconventional ones, all blending in together in the festivities.
The guys could not be far behind. Denims and
casuals gave way to
Munds and kurtas,
and the result is what you see.
Getting
ready for that perfect frame was, needless to say, necessary. And we loved
every bit of it!
There
was beauty, fun,
laughter and enjoyment. What else could we have asked for!
